Ambassadors for Peace

We’re delighted to introduce our Global Peace Index Ambassadors for 2016.

Last year we worked with Rotary International to select the best and brightest Rotary Peace Fellows and alumni to act as Global Peace Ambassadors, representing the Institute for Economics and Peace by presenting our research around the globe.

Initially searching for 10 ambassadors, we received so many excellent applications that we selected a total of 135. Our Ambassadors represent more than 50 countries – from Azerbaijan to Zimbabwe, and Pakistan to Paraguay. Despite their diverse backgrounds, they all share a common purpose; a passion to see peace as a real, tangible and achievable goal.

Rotary’s Peace Fellow program provides 100 annual scholarships to peace and conflict resolution education programs, in six Peace Centers around the world. So far, over 900 Rotary Peace Fellows have graduated from the program, going on to lead meaningful careers in the government and nonprofit sectors.

Update: Last week, the Institute for Economics and Peace and Rotary International held the first of three training sessions to equip our Global Ambassadors with the knowledge to begin delivering their own presentations on the Global Peace Index and our peacebuilding model, Positive Peace. We can’t wait to share their work with you.

Congratulations to all, and welcome to the team.
