The State of Peace Around the World

Case Studies explore how levels of peace have changed in a country by referring to specific Global Peace Index indicators over the long and short term. They provide an overview of the most pressing issues which are restricting peace, as well as highlighting areas where countries are performing well.

The articles explore three areas of peacefulness by country:

The state of peace

This examines what areas a country performs well or poorly in, potential challenges to improvements and the trends which affect a country’s peacefulness.

The cost of violence containment

Violence containment spending is the economic activity that is related to the consequences or prevention of violence where the violence is directed against people or property. That means it looks at how much the cost of controlling violence for a country is, and is trying to put a dollar value on some challenges to peace.

How can a country improve in peace

By using our Pillars of Peace analysis, the articles examine which attitudes and institutions that underpin peaceful societies a country can improve upon.

Your input

Below each article is the space for you to comment, question and clarify the state of peace. You can also share the articles through social media.

Where to find them

The case studies will be released at time of launch on the 18th of June. Stay tuned.
