International Day of Peace

Peace means different things to different people around the world. To celebrate the International Day of Peace, 21st of September, we are launching a month long photography competition and asking you to show us what you think peace looks like.

What does peace look like?

We often talk about what peace means, or the various factors that contribute to peaceful societies, but sometimes we forget to think what peace might look like. We want to know how different people around the world see peace. All entries will be showcased on our website and Facebook page. When the competition has finished, we'll create a collage of all the images  so you can see what peace looks like according to different people around the world.

How to enter

What does peace look like to you? Simply take a photo of what you think peace looks like and send it to us via email (, tag us in your photo on Facebook, or mention us in your Tweet.

Please be sure to include your name, contact email address, and a brief description of what you think peace looks like and why.

What's up for grabs?

The winner of the competition will receive a copy of the groundbreaking documentary Soldiers of Peace and a Soldiers of Peace cap.

Meet the judges.

Steve Killelea, Founder of the Institute for Economics and Peace (the brains trust behind Vision of Humanity) will be judging the photos. Steve is an avid photographer himself and has a keen eye for beautiful images. More judges to be announced shortly.
